Álvaro Balsas is an Assistant Professor at the Portuguese Catholic University (UCP), where he earned is PhD in Philosophy of Science (2010). He took is Licence’s and Master’s degrees in Physics at the University of Coimbra (1987) and University of Aveiro (1991), where he also taught several courses in Physics. He published 23 articles in specialized journals and 2 in conference proceedings. He is author of 3 books and 2 chapters of books, being also editor and co-editor of 16 books. He has 46 technical production items. He acts in the scientific area of Philosophy of Science. In his professional activities he interacted with 41 collaborators in co-authorship of scientific works. He is Adjunt Editor of Revista Portuguesa de Filosofia (www.rpf.pt), indexed in SCOPUS, and a research member of CEFH at the UCP. His areas of research are the Foundations of Quantum Mechanics (namely, interpretation of the theory, EPR, CHSH inequality, Tsirelson inequality, Bell´s Theorem, and Local Realism), Condensed Matter Physics, Philosophy of Nature (namely, causal processes and complex systems), Philosophy of Science, and Science and Religion.
